Today, I tried to make Fluffy's recipe for sausage soup, but I'm a pretty bad cook, and it came out all wrong. While the flavor was strong and tasty, the vegetables had been cooked too quickly and too long, leaving them with little texture. The sausages fared better: while a bit overcooked, their flavor became stronger and spicier.
I salvaged things as best I could. I drained out the broth to use in a savory sauce or to use in a second attempt, and I saved the beans (which were fine) and the sausage to fry for part of a meal tomorrow.

Since 2025, I've worked at Epic (the healthcare-IT one) as a Server Systems Engineer, where I do the world's geekiest form of customer support: helping grizzled sysadmins wrangle Linux and AIX servers. When those boxes behave, a hospital EHR stays running, to the delight of patients and providers. When the boxes act up, I get paged, because those servers are Non Plus Infra.
It's nearly 5 PM, and at 6 I have plans to go biking with my good friend Jaime. In my backpack I've placed a peanut-butter sandwich, a bottle of water, my sunglasses, and a benzocaine lozenge in case my throat acts up.
Hayley, my roommate, is in a chipper mood as she gathers her own supplies. Tomorrow, in her infinite coolness, she will summit Mount Adams.
I've been feeling down lately. The job search has so far been fruitless, and the way my savings are dwindling, at the end of August I'll have no choice but to leave Portland.

I was introduced to JoJo through the anime adaptation, of which I've watched all of parts 2 through 5. After the part 5 anime concluded, I decided to try the manga, and found copies of part 6. While I liked many of the characters and Stands, overall I liked Stone Ocean less than the other parts with which I'm familiar.
I was skeptical about this novel's premise, but my friend Matt guaranteed I'd like it. He was right: I adored it.

The IndieWeb is a group of independent creators who use their websites as the foundations of digital identity. Web technologies both extant and under development are used to copy data from one site to another, which forms the basis of a distributed social network where each participant's posts, likes, comments, and other personal output are stored on his or her personal site.
IndieWeb held the 2019 IndieWeb Summit in Portland on 2019-06-29 and 2019-06-30 (with a pre-conference meet-and-greet on 2019-06-28). I attended, and enjoyed myself despite an all-weekend headache.
